On January 1, 2024 we moved to the Auburn Veterans Memorial Hall, 100 East Street, Auburn.  This is our new venue for general meetings, classes, workshops, the country store and big events like the spring luncheon and bunco event.  We are very excited about our new venue!  If you can't find parking in the lot behind the hall, we have permission to park in the parking lot across from us on East Street.

SKILL BUILDING PROGRAM:

Based on member survey results, quarterly Skill Building events will be held, in addition to our Program Speaker workshops and Discovery Days. The new Skill Building program won’t necessarily be project oriented, although projects might be used to teach or review particular skills. There will be some classes and some topics will be covered with demos before a general meeting.  At our first two events, you will learn to use a Walking Foot to quilt a small project such as a placemat or a small lap quilt.  We will teach you to “sandwich” your quilt and help you choose an appropriate quilting design for your project.  Quilting options will include “stitch in the ditch”, geometric quilting patterns, and creating quilting designs using freezer paper. The first two will focus on quilting.  Class will be presented on two days, January 24 and January 31 at the Newcastle United Methodist Church, 410 Buena Vista Ave, Newcastle.  For more information, see our Activities page.

WE'RE DOING GREAT GETTING MEMBER PICTURES!

We have pictures of about 2/3 of our members on the Members Only page.  If you're not there, we try to take pictures at meetings - or if you have a picture you like, email (colleenvoet@gmail.com) or text (916-390-2272) it to Colleen Voet.  (If you text, be sure she knows who you are.)

FABRIC DONATIONS:

We welcome donations of quilting fabric, notions, and tools.  Fabric that is 100% cotton is what we need for quilts for our Community Service projects - anything that’s ¼ yard or bigger.  Please contact Lynn Zacharias at 530-906-5523 to make appropriate arrangements.  To see what we do with these donations, please check our Community Service page.

BOARD MEETINGS:

Board Meetings are held on Zoom on the 4th Monday of the month, starting at 4:00pm.  All committee chairs are members of the Board.  All members are welcome to attend Board meetings.  If you would like to attend, please contact Marylee Drake to obtain the Zoom login.
