Speakers & Workshops: Marjan Kluepfel

Marjan Kluepfel WorkshopJoin us April 12, 2010, for Marjan Kluepfel who will entertain us with her "Evolution of an Art Quilter and Fabric Dyer."This is an educational slide lecture and trunk show with a big dose of humor woven in. You’ll hear about her nontraditional approach to quilting and how she creates her hand-dyed fabrics. She explains where her ideas and inspiration come from, how her work has evolved over the years, and why she does what she does. Learn from Marjan’s mistakes, so you won’t make them yourself!

Marjan grew up in the Netherlands. After living on several continents she settled in Northern California. She is a fabric artist who uses fabric and thread as her medium instead of paper and paint, and a sewing machine instead of a brush. Her art quilts are fused fabric collages that are fun and fast to make. “The texture of the fabrics is an important design element to me and in my work,” says Marjan. “I use many different surface design techniques—fabric dyeing, painting, printing, pleating, and machine quilting and embroidery. I like to work with color and movement in my pieces. The bright colors I use express my positive outlook on life.”
