Mel’s quilting adventure began in 2003 and she’s enjoyed every moment spent creating modern, bold and fun quilts. While living in New York state, she learned to quilt on her own via books, magazines and television. Since moving to Northern California, she’s immersed myself in the vibrant quilting community in the Bay Area, as well as online. She loves experimenting with new techniques and designs, and especially enjoys combining bright colors and exciting textures, whether it’s solids, ombres (her personal favorite), prints and/or her own hand dyed fabrics.
She is especially drawn to participating in Quilt Challenges, both at the local and national/international level! Each
new challenge pushes her to grow as a quilter as she creates innovative designs to celebrate fiber through new techniques, fabrics and layouts. Her talk to our guild on September 11 is “Challenge Yourself!”
