Jean Impey, October 2020 Speaker and Workshop

On October 12 our speaker, via Zoom, will be Jean Impey.  This is what she says about her background:

“Art has been an integral part of my life since I was a child. I remember always being intrigued and absorbed with making things. My mother encouraged my exploration of all things creative and my life-long creative journey took off including painting, sewing, photography, ceramics, embroidery, and gardening, just to name a few.

“My style, my passion, my energy is boundless… I love discovering, I love looking, I love seeing, I love the way others see, and I love doing!

“I don’t worry about doing it wrong…. There is no such thing in the creative process. I like how Albert Einstein said, “The easiest way to be creative: try something different, even if you don’t think it will work.”

“I look forward to sharing my story, work and passion with you.”

October 13 and 20 Workshop - Pineapple Express

This workshop will be taught via Zoom from 10am-1pm on two days - the first half of the workshop on Tuesday, October 13 and the second half finishing up on Tuesday, October 20.

Pineapples have always been a symbol of Hospitality. Create a warm and inviting welcome to your home with a Pineapple Quilt by using my easy and fast organized techniques. There is no messy paper to tear-away! By using a pineapple ruler, or even a square Omni Grid ruler you will be successful in making this quilt.

This quilt can be made as large or small as you like, complicated or simple, anyway you like. Similar to a log cabin block, it starts with a central square and then grows larger by sewing strips of fabric out from the middle.

Don’t want to make a whole quilt? Why not make a 20″ square pillow?

Jean’s talk on October 12, “Finding Your Passion and Running With It” includes how, when you find something that fascinates you, what steps to take to uncover what is unique and special to you and your art.  What makes your quilt special and unique and how to pursue your special style and look.
